About the Hospital » Overview

Founded in 1956, Lisie Hospital is one of the oldest multispeciality hospitals in Kochi, Kerala, with an exemplary record of matchless expertise and service. Located in the heart of the city, the hospital is easily accessible to patients from far and near. Named after St.Teresa Lisieux of France, popularly known as Little Flower, the hospital is the premier project of Lisie Medical Institutions, a registered charitable organization owned and managed by the Archdiocese of Ernakulam.

Inspired by the motto, ‘Care with Love’, Lisie Hospital has carved a niche for itself as a provider of quality healthcare at reasonable costs. Its rich pool of qualified, skilled technicians and highly dedicated team of paramedics have helped it become the multi speciality hospital it is.

Lisie Hospital was first conceived by His Grace the Most Rev. Dr. Augustine Kandathil, DD, the late Archbishop of Ernakulam. But before he could realise his dreams, he was called for eternal reward in January 1956. Inspired by his illustrious predecessor and moved by the vast and urgent healthcare needs of the country, His Eminence Cardinal Joseph Parecattil, the Archbishop of Ernakulam, revived the project in June 1956. The Founder-Director of the hospital is V. Rev. Msgr. Antony Parackal, while its Spiritual Directors are Fr.Jacob Aeranat and Antony Elavumkudy.

Today the annual average outpatients turnover exceeds 3,70,000 while the number of inpatients hover close to 42,600.

The nursing school attached is also recognized as a avant garde nursing institute. The hospital is also recognized by the Indian Medical Council for training of Internees and Senior Hose Officers.

The hospital looks ahead into future with a better building to house the institution with better facilities.
